Modelling Weeks (MWs)

To familiarise students with some of the standard techniques of industrial mathematics, the idea of a mathematical modelling week was devised, and these are often held the week before a Study Group. The typical format is for about 6 students per team to work on carefully prepared real-world problems. Students are advised by experienced researchers who have strong track records of successful collaboration with industry and act as excellent role models. Modelling weeks provide excellent experience of working with peers from different countries and backgrounds (embodying the ever-increasing internationalisation of Europe), as well as helping to develop strong problem-solving and communication skills.
